Awards Ceremony Success

North East Districts first ever Awards evening went off with Success.

The evening was a pilot event with awards being handed out to 16 volunteer leaders for service from 5 years up to 40 years, and one wood beads handed to a new leader, who has just completed his training.

The event was hosted by District Chairman Andy Stafford and Peter Hardy, and awards presented by County Commissioner Carol Black and District Commissioner Lianne Mason, on her first duty after her operation.

Andy used the occasion to thank the Leaders for their commitment to passing knowledge onto generations of young people, giving them adventure and skills to help them make a start in life.

He also said, on a year where the Queen celebrates her 90th birthday, many of our leaders have dedicated their duty to Scouting as she has to her subjects across the commonwealth in her long reign.
